How does CertaPro determine how big is a territory?

CertaPro gathers demographic information and then designates specific zip codes to form a territory based on single family dwellings and average income levels, among other factors.

How many people will I be hiring with a salary?

You probably won’t hire a salaried person until annual sales exceed $500K. Most owners then hire an office person.

How many crews will I have on staff?

CertaPro has a critical path to help you determine what infrastructure is needed at different levels of volume, so you scale profitably!

Does CertaPro provide health insurance to its franchise owners?

No, insurance is purchased on an individual basis.

How long is the CertaPro Painters training program?

You will have two one-week training sessions at corporate headquarters in Oaks, PA. In your territory, there will be a three week field training course; this occurs between the two training sessions. In addition you will receive in-the-field training from your coach as well as weekly phone support meeting of thirty minutes each. Training is also continued through out the year with the CertaPro training department in different cities.

How long is the CertaPro contract?

The CertaPro contract is valid for a period of 10 years. Upon expiration, each franchisee is given the right to renew the contract.

What kind of vehicle do I have to drive?

CertaPro requires each franchisee to drive a white full-sized van, pick-up or SUV. This vehicle can be up to two years old at purchase.

Where do I buy my equipment?

You will purchase most of your items needed for a first year business from a local paint suppliers such as Sherwin Williams, Home Depot or Lowe's. CertaPro will provide you with a complete list of items you will need.

 How long before I have an office outside of my home?

Once your annual sales exceed the $500,000 - $600,000 annual range, you will find that it is time for an outside office. Part of that reason is the possibility of adding an office person.

How will I attract customers?

The main method in a first year franchise is through the CertaPro direct mail program.

Who owns CertaPro Painters?

Our parent company, The Franchise Company, also own California Closets, Handyman Connection, Paul Davis Restoration, Pillar-to-Post, Floor Coverings International, Field Asset Services, College Pro Painters and Action Window Cleaners. The Franchise Company part of FirstService Corp, a public company traded on the Toronto stock exchange and NASDAQ.

I do not know how to paint. In fact, I don’t like to paint.

What if my area has pages and pages of painters in the phone book?

That is good. This means you have a very strong market with a lot of demand. Remember, you are taking market share from your competition when you begin your franchise. The more fragmentation that exists, the more opportunity for you.

Do I need a license?

In most cases you do not, however, it varies state by state.

Is CertaPro Painters reasonably priced?

Our targeted customers are seeking value and are not driven only by price. Of course, they want a fair price for our services based on the value they perceive to be purchasing when selecting CertaPro. Most of us do not purchase services or products based on price alone. CertaPro delivers "certainty" to the customers at a competative price.

What is GAF?

This is CertaPro's Advertising Fund. This money is used to build our Brand on a national level.

I already have a laptop computer. Can I use that?

No. You must purchase the approved tablet so that your system and hardware is completely compatible with our programs.
